It can also be used to detect cases of red blood cell sensitization after taking certain medications or after tranfusions. In the fetuses, in the event of  suspicion for erythroblastosis, the test may be used to determine the presence of antibodies in the red blood cells of the infant.<br><br>\nThe indirect Coombs reaction is used to detect pathological antibodies in the patient's serum, which may react negatively against the transfused red blood cells.
