FibroScan Touch 502

The FibroScan examination, or elastography (Transient Elastography), of the liver is a painless, non-invasive method that assesses the degree of liver elasticity, and has recently come to replace the older, invasive method of liver biopsy.

Various pathogens (such as hepatitis B, C and D viruses, etc.), alcohol consumption, fatty infiltration (poor diet, sugar-diabetes, lack of exercise, etc.), certain hepatotoxic drugs and rarer metabolic syndromes (hemochromatosis, Wilson, etc.) can be the cause of chronic inflammation of the liver (hepatitis) which creates progressive and gradual phenomena of fibrosis (scarring) of the liver.

The advantages of the method are evident in the painless and non-invasive testing process, the straightforward execution of repeated measurements, the absence of complications, and the remarkable level of precision achieved. In particular, the accuracy of the method in relation to histological findings reaches 90%.

Fibroscan results are instant, providing a snapshot of the liver's condition, enabling your physician to diagnose and track the potential progression of fibrosis and steatosis, and thereby establish the appropriate treatment plan.
